The 7 chakras and what they mean......

I know some of you know all about the Chakra, some maybe just heard the word. The word is in Sanskrit and the translation is wheel - the wheel of energy throughout the body.

There are seven main chakras, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head.

The seven wheels of energy correspond to massive nerve centers in our body. Each of them contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. They must stay open. If they are blocked the energy can’t flow, and it's then when we start having all kinds of problems. It’s a bit more of a challenge, but it isn’t difficult when you have awareness. Since mind, body, soul, and spirit are intimately connected, awareness of an imbalance in one area will help bring the others back into balance.

  • The first three chakras, starting at the base of the spine are chakras of matter. They are more physical in nature.
  • Then we have the 4 chakra that is the connection between the matter and the spirit
  • The other 3 chakras are the ones of the spirit

Our body is always in constant flux between balance and imbalance. Unless you have an apparent problem in one area of the body, imbalances can be difficult to find. It’s important to be aware of your body/mind and start to learn their signals and clues. For example, frequent constipation can indicate a blockage in the first chakra or a recurring sore throat leaves clues that the fifth chakra may be blocked. Frequent headaches around the area of the forehead may mean your sixth chakra is blocked.

Each chakra is attributed to certain colors, and therefore gemstones can be matched to chakras according to the color of the stones. The stones suitable for certain chakras should be kept close to the chakra.

Note that some of the stones have a large variety of colors. Next to each of the chakras were the name of the stone without the addition of the color: the color according to the color of the chakra.

On our next blog, you will read about the Gemstones, the colors of each chakra and what they do. Also, each chakra and to which part of the body can help us.
